Welcome to ISOM 25!
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 25th International Symposium on Olefin Metathesis and Related Reactions (ISOM 25) that will take place from Tuesday July 8 until Friday July 11, 2025 in Liège, a vibrant city in the southeastern part of Belgium, at the crossroads of Europe. This symposium is part of a longstanding series of meetings that brings together every two years scientists from both academia and industry from all over the world to disseminate and to discuss the various aspects of olefin metathesis and related reactions in a lively, relaxed, and stimulating environment.
This summer, we will have a chance to celebrate together a dual anniversary. Indeed, it will be the 25th edition (silver jubilee) of ISOM since the first meeting of this series was organized in January 1976 by Hartwig Höcker at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz, Germany. Since then, this international biennial event has been the leading forum for the olefin metathesis community, worldwide. The year 2025 will also mark the 20th anniversary of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded in 2005 to Yves Chauvin, Robert H. Grubbs, and Richard R. Schrock for “the development of the metathesis method in organic synthesis“. Thus, ISOM 25 will be the perfect occasion to reflect on the past achievements in olefin metathesis, but also to look ahead and focus on the future!
We look very much forward to welcoming you in Liège in July 2025.
For the local organizing committee, Damien Debecker, Lionel Delaude, and Aurore Richel
